Testimonials
“We urgently need partnerships across generations to protect our climate. Becoming a mentor was an ideal step for me to help build such partnerships beyond my industry and its stakehold-ers. The transformation of industries for climate protection requires passion, the building of joint visions, and clear targets. I find that the dialogues with my mentee are an amazing sounding board for discussing these transformations.”
Jens Hamprecht, Director Global Plastics Steering Committee, BASF SE (NextGen Mentor)
Programme overview
NextGen Sustainability Mentoring, a sub-programme within the University of St. Gallen’s Mentoring Programme, aims to promote integrative thought leadership and responsible action in business and sustainability. We foster the informal transfer of knowledge, relationship building, critical thinking, and professional excellence to tackle the most pressing sustainability challenges. We aim to connect sustainability professionals with HSG students to foster bi-directional learning and unfold their personal and professional potential.
We welcome sustainability professionals as mentors, who fit to the HSG mentor requirements (Min. 30 years old, min. 3 years of professional experience) and contribute to positive change in a world of finite resources and planetary boundaries. Mentors sign up by providing a mentor profile on the HSG Mentoring Platfom and explicitly indicating Sustainability as a special interest within the HSG Mentor Questionnaire by August 29, 2024.
HSG Students are invited to sign up as mentees between early September and early October. Please create your mentoring profile on the online platform and share your personal motivation, expectations and wishes for a NextGen Sustainability mentoring relationship.
After the matching process in October, mentors and mentees are being informed by the Mentoring Programme about the outcome of the allocation. Mentees are then invited to contact their mentor and to launch the relationship. Mentors and Mentees are informed about special events such as NextGen Impact Career Roundtables and other options to promote sustainability within the HSG Ecosystem.
The NextGen Mentoring is a collaboration between the Mentoring Programme of the University of St.Gallen and the HSG Responsibility & Sustainabiltiy Department, supported by the WWF, the HSG Sustainability Alumni Club, ECOnnect and the Sustainable Development Solutions Network Switzerland (SDSN).
